So you thought
you might like to become a volunteer?
Volunteers are highly valued
people at the Howick Historical
Village. So diverse is our need
for volunteers that there is bound
to be an area or areas in which
your contribution will give you
pleasure and be of value to us
too.
When
you become a volunteer you join
a team of people who work together
to carry out the many tasks that
need to be done to keep the Village
viable. You may choose to work
in a public role (in costume)
or behind the scenes in a support
role. Wherever you choose we will
value your contribution. Initial
and ongoing training will be provided.
Listed below are some of the
areas we have a need for volunteers:
Education
Working with children in a team
environment or preparing craft
materials for educational activities.
Live Days
Learn the local history and impart
knowledge to Live Day visitors
on the 3rd Sunday of the month.
Gardening
Preparing and planting beds of
appropriate and authentic vegetables
and crops.
Archival
Help to catalogue the archives,
photographs and manuscripts.
Building Maintenance
Repair and restore heritage buildings
and Village structures. Help construct
new exhibits.

the 1840 to 1880 period to our
visitors.
