What's On
The museum is open 7 days a week, but there are always some special days when there are extra activities going on. Every third Sunday in the month (excluding December) there is a Live Day, which is a family friendly day with many costumed volunteers filling the Village.
Check out coming events, to see any coming events held at the Howick Historical Village. Tickets for such shows are normally available from the main desk.
Featured Item from our Collections
The Howick Historical Village has around 8000 items on display and in storage all relating to early Auckland life and many gifted by the local community.
This special object is a beautifully detailed piece of art which also has historical significance. Painted on a pearl shell the image shows a New Zealand Maori village post European contact (possibly post 1840’s) as many of the villagers are wearing a mixture of traditional clothing and European clothing.
We are still researching the artist and the location of the village and would love to hear from anyone who can help us fill in the blanks.
